This book discusses in detail molecular, mycobiont culture, biomonitoring and bioprospection of lichens, providing insights into advances in different fields of lichenology by applying modern techniques and approaches and examining how their application has enhanced or changed classical approaches. The book is honoured by two resounding forewords, one by Pier Luigi Nimis, historical founder and first President of the SLI, and one by Sonia Ravera, who is the current President of the SLI, but also the referent for the Italian Ministry of the Environment for lichenological matters, and therefore knows very well the “reindeer lichens.

Alliaceae The Alliaceae or onion family was once included in the monocot family Liliaceae, but is now recognized by many as a separate plant family. The family includes herbaceous (nonwoody) monocot plants that are generally perennial but not evergreen. Most are native to dry or moderately moist regions and other open areas. The family includes bulb or corm-forming plants as well as plants. Cunoniaceae is a family of 27 genera and about species of woody plants in the order Oxalidales, mostly found in the tropical and wet temperate regions of the Southern greatest diversity of genera are in Australia and Tasmania (15 genera), New Guinea (9 genera), and New Caledonia (7 genera). The family is also present in Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Malesia Clade: Tracheophytes.

A new book on a conspicuous family of lichens of the New World tropics is a major lichenological event by any standard, but the Cladoniaceae by Teuvo Ahti comes as the long-awaited fulfillment of an old promise by one of the world's master lichen taxonomists. Although the Cla-doniaceae are one of the best known lichen families, this. The present volume covering the Crassulaceae marks the completion of the successful handbook series that presents a complete coverage of the so-called "other" succulents, i.e.

of all taxa of suc culent plants with the exception of the Cactaceae. It is with pride that this volume is now put before the public. Together with its predecessors, it is the fruit of a truly international project. A lichen is a composite organism that arises from fruticose), flat leaf-like structures (), flakes that lie on the surface like peeling paint (), [4] or other growth forms.

[5] A macrolichen is a lichen that is either bush-like or leafy; all other lichens are termed microlichens. [1] Here, "macro" and "micro" do not refer to size, but to the growth form. [1].
